On July 27th, 2012, we lost a very important member of our family, our beloved golden retriever Brandon. As anyone who considers a dog a companion knows, the intense pain that accompanies this kind of loss is unbearable.
Unfortunately, we grieved alone like most dog owners often do, as there was no organized support for pet-parents in our community. But we decided to change that…
On Saturday, July 27th, 2013, exactly one year after our beloved Brandon’s departure, families and friends gathered along Lake Baldwin to launch decorated lanterns inscribed with messages to honor Brandon and their own furry companions.
Designed by us, Brandon’s very own grieving family, the memorial took place in Baldwin Park’s beautiful Harbor Park followed by a walk to Fleet Peeples Dog Park. Hundreds of people joined us as we paid tribute to such a special member of our family, and helped us create a magical procession of lanterns that floated along the lake.
It was a beautiful and emotional ceremony. A great tribute to all the wonderful babies we have all loved and lost!
Thanks to all the people who made it possible!
